WHAT IS A HYBRID SCHOOL?

A hybrid school is one that combines in-person instruction with at-home learning. It provides traditional instruction with a certified teacher in a classroom setting. This combination of socialization, teaching professionals and one-on-one time at home provides the most comprehensive learning experience.

WHICH GRADES DO YOU SERVE?

We serve children PK4-6th grade. In order to participate in PK4, children must be 4 before September 1st of that school year and be ready to learn in a formal setting. If space allows, the child may enter at a later date. We also provide a toddler classroom for siblings. Please ask for more details if interested.

What are your typical class sizes?

Toddler room will have between 4-6

Lower elementary's ideal class size is 7, but may have up to 10

Upper elementary's ideal class size is 12 but will go up to 15 (with 2 instructors)

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF YOUR PROGRAM?

There are many benefits to our program! Some of the things which make our program unique from traditional schools are:

  • smaller, tight-knit community of like-minded, Christian families

  • a safe and nurturing environment which can accommodate issues such as anxiety, ADHD, and giftedness

  • placement based on student ability- not age

  • parent involvement

  • individualized homeschool assistance/guidance

  • ability to curate your child's education through more field trips and unique electives

  • Pk4 will be very minimal. 10-15 minutes spent reviewing will be enough.

  • K Will require reading practice, along with 20 minutes of work/review.

  • 1-2 Will require reading/spelling practice, along with 30 minutes of work/review.

  • 3-6 Will require reading/spelling practice, along with 45 minutes of work/review.

* These times are daily estimates and may be more or less depending on ability and do not include time spent on electives or other courses with which you may choose to supplement.

HOW LONG WILL I SPEND TEACHING ON "AT-HOME" WORK?

IS THERE RECESS OR SOCIAL TIME?

One of our core values at SCL is to allow children the space and time to build community and friendships with their peers. We allow short breaks throughout the day as needed, as well as one whole hour dedicated to lunch and recess.  Lastly, we also have get-togethers and field trips throughout the year.

HOW DO YOU HANDLE BULLYING?

Our hope is to prevent bullying through our Christian Character classes as well as tight-knit community which includes parent involvement. In the event that bullying occurs, it will be taken seriously and handled promptly. One benefit to co-op education is that we get to decide collectively if a family needs to be reconsidered or if more accommodations can be made.

WHAT DOES TUITION COVER?

Many private schools underpay their teachers, and we want to honor the hard work they do. The majority of your fees go toward hiring highly qualified, credentialed teachers. The rest of the fees cover insurance, building and maintenance as well as misc. business costs. We also supply all classroom materials used in the classrom.

ARE THERE DISCOUNTS ON TUITION?

As a new program, we are unable to give substantial discounts, however, in order to make things more affordable, a parent may work weekly as a TA (Teacher Assistant) or in other capacities to receive a discount.  We also have a limited number of scholarships set aside each year. Please indicate interest in your application.

HOW OFTEN WILL I BE VOLUNTEERING IN THE CLASSROOM?

One parent or other guardian is required to volunteer in a classroom 1 day per semester or 2 days per semester if there are multiple children in the program.  Families may choose to complete their volunteer time as a member of our PTA instead.

I HAVE YOUNGER CHILDREN, CAN THEY COME ON THE DAYS I AM SCHEDULED TO VOLUNTEER?

WILL UNIFORMS BE REQUIRED?

We have a loose uniform policy for pk4 and above. Every child will be given one school shirt as part of their registration fee. They may choose to wear this or may wear ANY blue, white or gold shirts or dresses.  Bottoms should be solid neutral colors. We hope this accommodates children with different sensory needs while still providing safety and sense of community.

Yes. We have a toddler room available. If you will need childcare on your "volunteer day" please indicate that on your enrollment form and we will make sure to have that available to you.

WILL THERE BE ANY “FREE-DRESS” DAYS?

Yes, 5. The free dress days are: First day of school, Christmas, Easter, Last day of school, and one day for your child's birthday!

WHAT DENOMINATION IS THIS PROGRAM?

Our program is non-denominational.
